Historical Moments in 3 Weeks

The First Radio Broadcasting Station (1920)

In just three weeks, Westinghouse Electric engineers constructed and launched KDKA, the world's first commercial radio broadcasting station. Working from late September to early October 1920 in Pittsburgh, the team assembled the transmission equipment, erected an antenna, and set up a broadcasting room. This rapid deployment culminated in the historic broadcast of the 1920 presidential election results, marking the birth of commercial radio broadcasting.

The First McDonald's Restaurant Conversion (1955)

Ray Kroc's first McDonald's franchise in Des Plaines, Illinois, was transformed from an existing restaurant in just three weeks. In April 1955, workers rapidly renovated the building, installing the distinctive golden arches, setting up the specialized kitchen equipment, and implementing the standardized production system. This swift transformation established the template for thousands of future McDonald's restaurants.
